Setting up Windows Live Mail for Windows 7

Note: If your Windows 7 system did not come with Windows Live installed, this email program can be downloaded from Microsoft at . Once you download the install file and run it, on the "Choose the programs you want to install" screen uncheck everything except "Mail" to only install the "Mail" program.



before setup your Windows Live Mail, pls make sure you have below information
 incoming POP3 server   : mail
 outgoing smtp server     :
 email address               :
 password                      :  *******



Open Windows Live Mail. If  "Add an e-mail account" does not automatically open, click "Add e-mail account" on the left.  See Figure 1.

Enter a specific email address, password, and display name in the appropriate fields. Make sure to check the box for "Manually configure server settings for e-mail account" and then click Next.  See Figure 2.

Enter the specific Incoming and Outgoing server names. The box for "My outgoing server requires authentication" must be checked.  See Figure 3.

Incoming Server :       Port : 110
Outgoing Server :     Port : 465
                          Enable : "My outgoing server requires authentication"

Click Finish to complete the account setup.  See Figure 4.

The new email account will be displayed in the left vertical column. Click the Sync button on the horizontal buttons toolbar to send receive email.  See Figure 5

Your mail account is now ready to use...



More Setting... Check or Edit and existing eMail Account

Please uncheck the default option of "leaving a copy of messages on the server". Access the account settings for the email account by right clicking the username and then left clicking properties in the context menu. Select the Advanced tab and deselect the check box "Leave a copy of messages on the server". Click OK to save your changes and exit Advanced Properties. See Figure 6.

  1. Right click on the Email account you want to check and select Properties.

  2. Use the tabs at the top of the properties window to check over the settings for this account

  3. Advanced
    Unless you want to keep a copy of your email messages on our server, you shouldn't need to alter the settings on this tab. Make sure that the Sender Port Numbers, Server Timeouts and Sending sections match the screenshot below
